Cambridge International Primary

Cambridge Primary combines a world-class curriculum with a high-quality support for teachers, alongside coordinated assessments which will enable learners to seek, demonstrate, articulate and appreciate the knowledge and skills that will support them as lifelong learners. The curriculum is dedicated to help schools in developing learners to think out-of-the-box, be responsible, reflective, imaginative and engaged.

CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL LOWER SECONDARY

Cambridge Lower Secondary provides a seamless progression from Cambridge Primary or can be used as a stand-alone curriculum to develop learners’ skills and confidence in English, Mathematics and Science. It offers a curriculum framework for educational success for learners, typically 11-14 years old, with an optional testing structure.

Cambridge Lower Secondary has been developed to link seamlessly to form a continuum with the Cambridge Primary, and provides standardised tests to enable the careful monitoring of progress from primary to lower secondary phases. It also serves as a robust foundation, and provides excellent preparation for learners embarking on Cambridge IGCSE.

At the end of the programme, Cambridge Checkpoint assessments are available to provide detailed feedback on learners’ strengths and weaknesses.

CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL IGCSE

The Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is one of the most acknowledged qualifications worldwide. Cambridge IGCSE courses are renowned for developing vital educational skills, including knowledge recall, oral skills, problem-solving, initiative, teamwork and investigative skills.

The resulting qualification provides a foundation for higher level courses, such as Cambridge A level and AS Levels, of Cambridge Advanced International Certificate of Education;the North American Advanced Placement Programme and the International Baccalaureate. Cambridge IGCSE caters for different levels of ability with a choice between core and extended papers in many subjects.

The core curriculum is based on an overview of the subject and is suitable for students who are expected to achieve grades C to G. The extended curriculum is more challenging and designed for students who are expected to achieve grades A to C. Grades achieved through either route possess equivalent value.

SJIS PRE-UNIVERSITY STUDY CENTRE

At SJIS Pre-University Study Centre, we prepare students for the General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level qualification through examinations by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).

CIE is one of the world’s leading providers of international qualifications and assessments, and is part of the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES) which has developed and promoted qualifications around the world for almost 150 years.

The A Level is a worldwide internationally recognised Pre-University Qualification. The GCE A Level qualification emphasises on knowledge, understanding, reasoning abilities and skills. It is one of the most recognised pre-university qualifications in the world, and is accepted as proof of academic ability for entry into world-class universities in the United Kingdom, USA, Singapore, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Malaysia, to name a few.St.

John’s Pre-University Study Centre always goes the extra mile and does something more fundamental than the norm: funding more than 50 scholarship students since 2012 who have displayed qualities that should be emulated within diverse capabilities. We closely ingrain the ethos of ‘Smart Choice, Bright Future’ which offers up to 100% scholarship and bursary for student who are Lasallian or CBN student alumni in Malaysia.

ADMISSION GUIDELINESSJIP/SJIS intake begins in January.

As for A-Level, the intake takes place in January and August of each academic year. Applicants can apply throughout the year, and admission to a programme will be based on the available slots.

Enquiry

Step 1: Enquiry

Receiving an enquiry via email, website, social media, and call-in.

Step 2: Enrolment & Application

Applicants must submit a completed school application form with copies of the relevant documents and a non-refundable application fee.

Step 3: Placement Test

1. With the completed application form, our Admission team will make an appointment to assess the student’s suitability for existing programmes and levels via a placement test.

2. Our Admission team will send an email to the Parent stating the specific date and time of the placement test.

3. Admission of a student into the school is subject to availability of places and satisfactory outcome of the placement test results.

4. All assessments belong to the school and will be kept private and confidential. The school reserves the right not to allow the placement test to be brought out of the premises physically or in any form of electronic transfer, including the soft copy of the said test.

5. After a successful placement test, the parent/guardian may proceed with the registration fees. SJIP/SJIS will offer the student a place, and the parent/guardian may proceed with the school fee, textbooks fee, insurance, and a security deposit. Parents should pay the school fees before the following semester.

6. The submission of false, inaccurate or misleading information could lead to a rejection of your application for enrolment in the school. Parents must inform the school of any changes and/or any necessary personal information that is pertinent and useful to the school. Example: custody rights of said student, character traits, health issues, etc. In some instances, the school would request some documentary evidence.

7. Please note that submission of an application does not guarantee a place until the completion of the entire admission procedure.

Step 4: Placement Test Outcome

1. The successful applicant must meet the requirements set for the enrolment process, and parents will be notified of the application status within one week from the placement test date.

2. Successful application: The school will offer a confirmed seat. Parents need to proceed to the next step, which will be registering.

3. An offer for enrolment shall be conveyed and communicated to the parents of successful candidates. Parents must confirm such enrolment within the stipulated time, accompanied by the necessary documents and payments.

4. If the year’s group is filled, the applicant’s name will be placed on the waiting list. The applicant will be offered a place as soon as a place becomes available at the school’s discretion.

Step 5: Registration

1. The acceptance of the placement will only be confirmed following full payment of the Registration Fee, 1 (one) Semester School Fee, Insurance & Security deposit

2. Upon receiving the payment, which confirms the placement acceptance, parents will receive a Student Handbook and Registration Check List from the School Office

3. Parents/students will be informed of the orientation date. The orientation takes place in the 1st week of the school academic year.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS’ APPLICATION

Student Visa
  1. Student age must be 6 to 12 years old (SJIP) and 11 to 18 years old (SJIS) according to the year.
  2. Students & parents must have valid passports and visas.
  3. Parents holding working permits (PLKS) are not eligible to apply.
  4. A student with an attendance problem will affect their visa not being renewed.
  5. All documents certified/verified from Embassy/Bank/JPN/Income tax are only valid for six months.
  6. The immigration officer is entitled to ask for additional documents if necessary.
  7. The only completed application will be accepted and processed.
  8. The duration of the time process once submitted to Immigration Department is seven working days.
  1. Any student under SJIP/SJIS student visa who intends/wishes to withdraw from the school MUST submit their passport on the last day of their scheduled class for cancellation by our Government Liaison Department.
  2. Cancellation of student visa for Graduate students must submit their original passport to the school before/on the day to collect their IGCSE/ GCE A Level result.
  3. All initial results and school leaving certificates will be on hold until the cancellation of the student visa.
  4. The student who has poor attendance (refer to the student punctuality and attendance policy/procedure) must submit their original passport and proceed with the cancellation.
  5. After the student visa cancellation, the school must report to the Ministry of Education (MOE).
  6. Student and guardian visa holders are strictly not permitted to work.
  7. For any student/Guardian holding a Visa under SJIP/SJIS, a proper visa cancellation must be made before leaving Malaysia.
  8. Failure to provide proper notice in writing to the school can lead to the Personal Bond deposit being forfeited by the Immigration Authorities, Malaysia.
  9. Failure to do so will result in the school’s official police report against the said student. Hence your attention and cooperation in this matter are urgently required to avoid any delay.
  10. Cancellation of guardian visa must do together with a student visa (if applicable)
  11. Duration/estimated time to process once submitted to Immigration Department is one working day.
