Kuala Lumpur – St. John’s International School (SJIS) hosted parents, students and staff to a Buka Puasa Charity Ramadhan programme that featured the 36 children between ages of 12 to 16 years of Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah from Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah in Ampang is a charitable home providing shelter and education for less fortunate Muslim children and orphans.
Graced with the presence of SJIS Board of Governors’ advisor, Yang Mulia Tunku Dato’ Dr Seri Iskandar bin Tunku Abdullah and Datin Seri Maneesah binti Ahmad, Board of Governor’s member, Tuan Megat Mizan Denny Nicholas and wife, Putri Juneita, the programme began at 7pm with Muslim guests, staff and students breaking fast with a serving of dates and water.
SJIS also prepared a prayer area for the Magrib prayers as well as the Isya and Taraweh prayers. After the Magrib prayers, guests had the Buka Puasa dinner which was later followed by the Iysa and Taraweh prayers. Guests were then treated to light refreshments of local cakes and delicacies. As a gesture of goodwill and appreciation, the children from Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah also performed a repertoire of Nashyid or religious songs to the accompaniment of drums and a keyboard.
The evening ended with the children from Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah receiving duit raya and a goody bags from Tunku Iskandar, Datin Seri Maneesah and SJIS Principal Mr Suresh Dass.
