Mathematics is the most beautiful and most powerful creation of the human spirit.” – Stefan Banach

Kangaroo Math Competition (KMC), an annual International Math Competition for primary and secondary school students, has witnessed the participation of our very own SJIS Mathematicians. KMC is the largest Math competition in the world with more than 6 million participants taking part from 75 countries annually. KMC has been organised well by Kangaroo Math Malaysia since the year 2013. The competition was held on 21st March this year to support the effort of internationalisation of Malaysia’s education system as outlined in “Pelan Pembangunan Pendidikan Malaysia 2013-2025”.

Mathematics Is The Most Beautiful And Most Powerful Creation Of The Human Spirit

The main objective is to allow students to apply their knowledge in Mathematics that they have learned in school. The slight challenging part to this competition is applying the knowledge out of the daily learned syllabus. This helps to expose the participants to tackle complex math equations which are designed by internationally-renowned math educators. The competition also aims to develop Higher Order Thinking Skills in mathematics among students in Malaysia and to achieve certification and recognition from an internationally prominent education body.

A total of 23 students from SJIS participated in this competition under three different categories:
– Cadet Category (Year 7 & 8)
– Junior Category (Year 9 & 10)
– Student Category (Year 11)
