Nature is beautiful, a blessing, fragile, helpful, important, comforting. CSR has collaborated with Vanke and TRCRC in conducting a vivid and an enthralling talk session. Students from the Nature Club and the Interact Club have joined this talk session along with the teachers and staff involved. There were almost 60 participants in total.
TRCRC staff conveyed an interesting presentation and engaged all SJIS students as well as SJIS staff in a conjoint discussion followed by fascinating activities. This talk session took approximately 1.5 hours and it has covered topics such as climate change, forest conservation and students’ role to create positive ways to have a safe and healthy planet to conserve the ecosystem. The speaker have used an effective communication method via getting the students to ask and respond to questions based on the presentation.
The session became more reciprocal when group activities were conducted and the theme given was nature or forest. Students were challenged to test their knowledge and understanding of Malaysia’s rainforests, guess the theme presented by each group of students and act. There was also a Trivia game conducted to test the students’ knowledge of the environment as well as the importance of preserving Mother Nature. Some students also shared their ideas on solutions to environmental problems.
The session came to an end with a prize giving ceremony to all the winners. As a token of appreciation, SJIS was given a symbolic seedling to be planted on the school grounds in celebration of the student’s environmental stewardship, St. John’s commitment, and Vanke’s leadership in sustainability.
