Kudos to SJIS for organising a worthy ‘Educational Excursion’.
On 20 September 2017, SJIS St. John Ambulance Malaysia (SJAM) / KLSJISCCD members and their teachers-in-charge had visited Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Pahang, Kuala Lumpur, with the objective of enriching their knowledge on the Emergency and Trauma Department operations (modus operandi) at the General Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Concurrent and in view of the needs of the recent SEA games, there is one private ward specially dedicated for the athletes at the hospital. The SJIS St John Ambulance members had also visited the communications and operations room where the receivers will receive calls from the people/general public that can only be received within the radius and demarcation of the Klang area. Here, the paramedics would also be involved in the answering of calls to instruct the caller on how to perform basic first aid procedures or give simple instructions as to promote recovery, or on how to prevent further injuries depending on the situation.
Mr Mohan, one of the medical assistant in HKL, gave a tour on how the Trauma department functions as a whole and how they manage their patient’s health and condition.
At the training specialist centre Stephanie demonstrated the CPR technique on a dummy.
It was an unforgettable trip for the students and teachers.
The accompanying teachers were Ms. Catherine and Pn. Halimatun.
