The closing celebration of Bulan Bahasa Melayu and Hari Malaysia as Part of the Malay Language Enhancement Programme at SJIS took place recently. The spirit of Malaysian is still within us. A total of 600 students attended the event in their traditional school attire. Besides that, all the teachers and administrative staff’s participation was very impressive.

The event was held on September 15, 2023 (Friday), starting from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Malay Language Department served the audience with more than 7 performances related to Malaysian culture, like dances, gimmicks of independence, patriotic songs, and a choir.

Teachers also received appreciation awards voted by the students in every year by five categories: the most funniest teacher, the most loving teacher, the most punctual teacher, the most strict teacher, and lastly, the most dedicated teacher.

The best part is their involvement in all the activities conducted during the month of Bulan Bahasa Melayu and Hari Malaysia, such as futsal, traditional games, and quizzes. All the winners are happy to receive awards for all the activities participated.

At the end of the event, all teachers and staff sang the patriotic song Jalur Gemilang for the closing of the event. Last, all the teachers and performers were invited to have lunch with a potluck concept. We, as organizers of the event, were happy and very thankful to all the teachers and staff who contributed to making the event a successful one.

We are looking forward to next year’s celebration of the creative art and culture of Malaysia.
