The Pursuit of Dispute: SJIS

For the fourth year in a row, Kolej Tuanku Ja’afar’s (KTJ) Oxbridge Debate forum saw a strong show of participation from St. John’s International School. This year’s edition welcomed 150 students from 12 schools across Malaysia, and SJIS were proud to have 11 student debaters in attendance.

The Pursuit Of Dispute

The event kicked off with a Plenary round by the guests of honor. An interesting and intellectual motion was introduced to the forum, and a lively debate ensued between the various teams. It was indeed exciting and inspiring to see SJIS’ bright young minds participate so eagerly and confidently! Both sides of the motion were enthusiastically debated and the Chairman concluded the session with a straw poll from the audience.

The Pursuit Of Dispute 2

After spending the morning making arguments for and against the motion, 3 students were chosen to represent each council in the afternoon finals round. SJIS pupil Visaghan Shanta Mohan was picked as one of the elite debaters to compete. What’s more, Visaghan was part of the winning team!
